Rajasthan unit of BJP has called for a state-level bandh on May 18 to protest the CBI charge sheet against Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case.

"This is a political conspiracy of Congress-ruled UPA government to falsely implicate Kataria in the case, so the party has decided to call for bandh on May 18," party's state general secretary Kalicharan Saraf said.

He said all the district units of the party have been given directions to make sure that the bandh is successful.

CBI has charge sheeted Kataria, who was the Rajasthan home minister in the previous Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government in the state, in the encounter case, along with three others.

Kataria is the second high-profile politician to be named in the alleged fake encounter case after former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah.

The BJP has rejected all charges against Kataria with party president Rajnath Singh expressing full support for him.
