Raj civic body polls: 1,121 nominations found invalid so far

As many as 1,121 nominations filed for the Rajasthan civic body polls have been found to be invalid so far, leaving a total of 5,563 candidates in the fray as of now.

As many as 10,443 candidates had filed nomination papers for 1,696 wards, and so far, 1,121 nominations have been found invalid, PRO of the Rajasthan State Election Commission said here.

He, however, said this figure may go down or up as the process of scrutiny at some places is in progress.

The polls will be held in 46 cities of Rajasthan on November 22.

Withdrawal of nominations will be allowed till November 14. EVMs will be used in the polls and the results will be announced on November 25.
 

Subsequently, the election of Municipal Chairman and Mayors in six corporations will take place on November 26.

Six municipal corporations of Jaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur and Bharatpur, 18 municipal councils and 22 municipalities will go to polls after five years.

Over 63.09 lakh electors will cast their votes at 6,135 polling booths.

Congress has fielded candidates in most of the wards.
