Showing her generosity Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today announced to pay bonus to employees of the State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) who were earlier denied by their Governing Council, an official spokesman said.

"We want that employees and their families should enjoy festival of Diwali and get bonus," an official spokeman said quoting Raje.

Bonus would bear an additional burden of Rs 7 crore to the state exchequer, the CM said.

Earlier in the day Bhartiya Majdoor Sangh's General Secretary Rajbihari Sharma met the CM apprising of RSRTC's decision for non-payment of bonus to the employees this year and requested her to reconsider it in the interest of employees.

The CM immediately discussed the matter and ordered the Finance Secretary to award the bonus.

Last week RSRTC's Governing Council had decided that bonus will not be given to the employees this year. As RSRTC is in the red, September's salary of employees at 38 depots was pending amd RSRTC to get a sanction of a loan of Rs 25 crore from a Bank for the Roadways administration on the approval of the state government.

Bonus issue turned ugly when hundreds of employees today gheraoed the office of the financial advisor and kept him locked inside the toilet of his chamber for about an hour on October 17.
