Govt to open bank accounts for women: Vasundhara Raje

Says govt has made provision of Rs 600 cr for this year

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today announced a scheme under which bank accounts will be opened for women and benefits directly transferred to their accounts.
 
Addressing the state level Independence Day function at Maharana Bhupal stadium here, Raje said that the "Bhamashah scheme" will empower women and bring a positive change in their lives.
 
She said that the government has made a provision of Rs 600 crore this year, adding that bank accounts will be opened for women belonging to 1.5 crore families. Under the scheme, she informed, the women will be issued a smart card.
 
She also said that the government would soon introduce an investment promotion policy to attract large investments in the state in the coming years and a policy to encourage solar energy production, with an aim to generate 25,000 MW solar power in five years.
 
 
The government is making efforts to provide round the clock domestic electricity in the state. We have added 900 MW power generation capacity in the last 7 months and units having 850 MW capacity will be operational this financial year, she said.
 
On skill development, she said the government has signed MoUs with 40 companies for providing skill development training to 1.7 lakh youths this year.
 
She added that promotion of tourism including rural tourism, modernisation of ration shops, social, economic and infrastructure development were priorities of the government.
