A head constable allegedly fled with a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a police station in Kota, said an Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) official here today.

Abdul Hakim, a head constable posted at Khatoli, had allegedly demanded Rs 8,000 from Radhyshyam Nagar, the complainant, said Vivek Soni, Circle In charge, ACB, Kota.

The amount was later settled at Rs 5,000, he added.

A trap was laid yesterday, on the basis of Nagar's July 21 complaint to ACB, in which he alleged that he was asked for the bribe, to settle a case against him.

Nagar reached the police station at 9.30 PM yesterday and handed over the money to Hakim, who returned Rs 1,000 to the complainant, after further negotiations.

As soon as the ACB sleuths entered the premises, Hakim fled the spot with the bribe money, Soni told PTI here today, adding that efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.
