Raj deaths: 6 suspended, 1 put under APO

Three officers and as many staff members of the government-run home for people with special needs were today suspended for the death of 11 inmates, mostly children.

P R Pandat, Director, specially-abled persons was put under Awaiting Posting Orders (APO), Social Justice and Empowerment minister Arun Chaturvedi said.

Chaturvedi ordered the suspension after a review meeting with Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Arvind Saini, Deputy Director of the directorate of specially abled persons, Pyarelal Verma, Deputy Director of Social Justice and Empowerment Department-Jaipur, Anita Muwal, Superintendent of the home for specially abled person and staffers of the home- Dr Nupur Chaturvedi, Dr Mukut Bihari and caretaker Bharti Meena were those suspended following the meeting.
 

11 people with special needs, including eight children, staying at a government-run home in Jamdoli died between April 16 and 27 due to suspected bacterial infection after allegedly drinking contaminated water.
