To check Infant and Maternal Mortality Rates (IMR and MMR) in the state, Rajasthan Government today announced that it would bear the cost of "cesarean delivery" at designated private hospitals in 12 districts from October 1.
Due to lack of expertise in cesarean surgery in government hospitals in villages, pregnant women get admitted at private hospitals where they are charged heavily. They even are forced to travel from far-flung areas for delivery in many districts, Medical and Health Minister R S Rathor said.
Hence the government has decide to designate two private hospitals in each of the 12 districts, where expecting mothers could get admitted for cesarean delivery on doctor's advice and the state government would bear the cost of surgery and hospitalisation, the minister said.
