Raj govt announces Rs 25 lakh for Paralympian Jhajharia

Rajasthan government today announced to give a cash reward of Rs 25 lakh, a plot in the state capital and a piece of land along Indira Gandhi canal to javalin thrower Devendra Jhajharia for winning gold medal at the Paralympics in Rio.

Also, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, State Congress President Sachin Pilot and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot congratulated Jhajharia on his win.

Sports Minister Gajendra Singh announced a cash reward of Rs 25 lakh and a plot of 220 sq metre in Jaipur and 25 bigha of land in Indira Gandhi canal area.

Expressing her happiness over her son's achievement, the gold medallist's mother in Churu said she was very happy over her son's achievement while his wife, Manju, said she was confident that her husband would win the medal.
 

Jhajharia, who hails from Rajasthan, scripted history by becoming the first Indian to clinch two gold medals at the Paralympics (the first one in 2004 Athens Games) after he broke his own world record to clinch the top honours at the ongoing Rio Games.
