Raj govt declares close to 13,000 villages as scarcity-hit

The Rajasthan government has declared 12,943 villages of 18 districts as scarcity-hit due to floods damaging Kharif crops, an official statement said on Wednesday.

As per the notification, at 1,996, Udaipur district has the maximum number of scarcity-hit villages followed by Jhalawar (1,622), Banswara (1,532), Chittorgarh (1,306), Baran (1,085), Pratapgarh (1,013) Dungarpur (1,011) and Kota (887) among others.

The provision will remain implemented in the areas till December 31.
