Raj govt forms panel to review free medicines scheme

Rajasthan government today formed a high-level committee to review free medicines and diagnostic test schemes launched by the Ashok Gehlot government to make the projects more effective and beneficial.

Following the direction of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje during a review meeting of the medial and health department, a committee headed by an Additional Chief Secretary rank official was appointed for the purpose.

"Qualitative improvements will be made and shortcomings will be removed so that maximum people can get benefits of such schemes," Health Minister Rajendra Rathore told reporters after the meeting.

He informed that the chief minister also gave directions to review 108 ambulance service and its call centre, TB control, action plan for checking mother mortality rate and child mortality rate, sanitation arrangements in hospitals among others.
 

The minister said that the government will make special efforts to promote Ayurveda, Panchkarma treatment and herbal parks will also be set up.

Principal Secretary (Medical) Deepak Upreti made a presentation of the department's two-months action plan.
