Raj govt gives laptops to school students

Meritorious school students in Rajasthan will get laptops and financial aid to buy bicycles with the state government today launching a campaign in this regard.

The five-day campaign was launched by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the presence of union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here.

Under the Rajiv Gandhi student digital scheme, announced in the state budget session, class 8 toppers of government schools and those securing position in the merit list of top 10,000 in both 10th and 12th standard board exams will get laptops, while girl students taking admission in class 9 in government schools will be given cheque of Rs 2,500 to purchase bicycle.
 

"Such schemes were launched to boost confidence among the students," Gehlot said.

Around 56,000 students will be given cheques to purchase laptops, while four lakh girls will get cheques to buy cycles in the special campaign.
