"One lakh unemployed youths would be provided employment after training every year under the flagship scheme which would start this year," Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, C S Rajan said at a workshop here.

Inaugurating the three-day orientation cum training of trainers' workshop, Rajan said the scheme's focus would be on finding jobs for the youths rather than looking for self employment.

"The training would equip the youngsters to compete successfully in the job market and they would be tracked for a year," he said.

Rajan pointed out that though the livelihood projects sponsored by the World Bank and run by the Central Government were operative in several states, a unique project, Mitigating Poverty in Western Rajasthan(MPOWER), was functional in Rajasthan.
