"I have resigned from the the post of Parliamentary Secretary and forwarded my resignation to the Chief Minister last night," he told a press conference here today.

"I spoke to the Chief Minister and apprised him of my concern about the Gujjar community," Bidhudi, an MLA, said.

Interestingly, he said he took this step after the deity of his community, Devnarayan, appeared in his dream and asked him to fight for the interest of Gujjars.

"Our deity Devnarayan blessed me in dream last night. He told me -- wake up, stand up and fight for the community.

"He asked me to expose those who have misled the community on the reservation issue. So, I immediately took the decision and forwarded my resignation to the Chief Minister," Bidhudi said.

"The issue of five per cent reservation for Gujjars (and other castes) is lingering and the entire system and not a single person is responsible for this," the Congress MLA said.

When asked why he did not resign from the party or as an MLA, he said "I have quit the post of Parliamentary Secretary which was offered to me by the government."

"I was elected an MLA and have received the people's mandate. I fought the election on the issue of quota for Gujjars. I will raise the issue in the assembly."
