Ruling BJP party today won majority in 66 civic bodies including the Ajmer Municipal Corporation, while the Congress bagged 35 of them in the Rajasthan civic body polls, results for which were announced today.
The 129 civic bodies, encompassing a total of 3,351 wards, in the state had gone to polls on August 17.
Whereas NCP won a full majority in one municipal body of Nokh in Bikaner district by securing 19 out of 35 ward members body, the BJP won 10, Congress one and five went to Independents, an official of the State Election Commission said here.

In a neck-and-neck electoral race, ruling BJP won 1,443 out of the total of 3,351 wards while opposition parties including Congress and Independents bagged 1,908 wards.
In the final tally of results, out of 3,351 wards in the civic bodies including the Ajmer Municipal Corporation, BJP won 1,443 wards, Congress 1,164, Independents 703, NCP 19, BSP 16, CPI 5 and CPM one ward, according a Rajasthan State Election Commission spokesman here.
These elected ward members would elect by vote their chairman tomorrow, and deputy chairman day after tomorrow.
