Ten private school owners today climbed atop an overhead water tank here in a protest against the cut in school fees by Rajasthan fee regulatory committee.

"The school owners are demanding increase in the school fees. They say that the committee reduced the fees without their consent. Ten of such school owners climbed on the tank today," K Rastradeep, DCP East said.

He said that the police and the district collector spoke to the protesters on phone and efforts are on to convince them to get down.

Policemen have been deployed around the tank.

The private school owners in the state have opposed fixing of school fee by the state fee regulatory committee headed by former High Court judge Shiv Kumar.

The owners have alleged that the committee was not taking practical decisions regarding the fee regulation.
