Raj reels under blistering heat, Barmer hottest at 44.5 deg C

Heat wave conditions continued to prevail in Rajasthan as Barmer recorded maximum temperature of 44.5 degree Celsius today, hottest place in the state.

The scorching heat conditions affected normal life in western districts of Rajasthan, a MeT official said here.

Western regions including Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Churu saw mercury rising one to three degree Celsius as compared to yesterday, the official said.

Jaisalmer recorded a maximum temperature of 44.2, Churu and Jodhpur 43 each, Bikaner 42.4, and Jaipur 40.6 degree C.

The weather would mainly remain dry with mercury further rising at many places in western Rajasthan in next 24 hours, a forecast said.
