The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested a sarpanch for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a villager to sanction him the funds to construct his house under a central scheme in Jhalawar district.
Samrol Sarpanch Prushottam Bairwa (26) was arrested yesterday while taking the bribe from Sukhlal Bheel, the complainant, to sanction him funds to construct his house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, ACB (Baran) CI Neeraj Gupta said.
"The accused was today produced before the ACB court which sent him in jail custody till December 24," he said.
Bheel, in his complaint, had alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 to approve his application and sanction funds for a house, Gupta said.
