The state government today informed the House that a high-level committee in the food and civil supply department has been set up to monitor and control price rise of essential commodities and check hoarding and blackmarketing of such items in the market.

On a question of BJP MLA Alka Singh, the Food and Civil Supply Minister, Hemsingh Bhadana said, the stock limit of essential commodities including onion and potato would be implemented, if required after viewing the market status and their prices.

On an interruption by a BJP MLA who hinted at the hike in tomatoes price, the minister said it was not included in the essential commodities.

District Supply Officers were asked to make surprise visit at ration shops, for at least fifteen times in a district and spend seven days in the respective city to contain hoardings, Bhadana said.
