Raj sizzles under heat; Ganganagar at 48.6 C, Jaipur at 47

Blistering heatwave conditions today prevailed in Rajasthan with Jaipur recording 47 degrees Celsius, about 8 notches above normal.

According to MeT office, the maximum day temperatures have been rising in the Pink city for the sixth consecutive days after breaking the record of last over 33 years.

Gangangar sizzled with the maximum temperature of 48.6 degrees C in the state, it said.

Mercury maintained its upward trend by increasing one to two notches in almost every district in the state since yesterday.

Barring Udaipur where the maximum temperature was 42.2 degrees C elsewhere it was above 44 degrees C.

People in Ajmer, Pilani, Kota, Chittorgarh, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner were experiencing the worst of summer with hottest days this season as mercury ranged between 44.5 and 47.6 degree C.
 

MeT office, in a forecast, said that no let up in the heat wave conditions was expected in next 48 hours in the state.
