Rajagopal appointed as Addnl Chief Secretary to TN Governor

The Tamil Nadu government today announced posting IAS officer R Rajagopal as Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Banwarilal Purohit, with the post being "equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Chief Secretary".

"R Rajagopal IAS, formerly Adviser, Inter State Council Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs, on his report to the state cadre, is posted as Additional Chief Secretary to Governor," vice Ramesh Chand Meena, Principal Secretary to the Governor, a Government Order said.

Rajagopal was posted to the "temporary post" and "sanction" was accorded for its "creation" under Rule 4 (2) of the IAS (Cadre) Rules, 1954, the order of the Public (Special A) Department said.
 

Sanction was accorded for creation of this temporary post in the grade of Chief Secretary for a period of one year with effect from the date of appointment or till the need for it ceases, whichever is earlier, it said.

The government declared that under relevant IAS pay rules, the said post "be equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Chief Secretary to Government".

Further, the services of Meena were placed at the disposal of Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) as its CMD, vice, Atulya Misra, holding additional charge.
