Questioning the intentions behind Lok Sabha member Lagadapati Rajagopal carrying pepper spray to Parliament, TRS today demanded his prosecution under the charge of attempt to murder.

"He is carrying a lethal weapon to hit the members of Parliament... Why should you carry pepper spray into Parliament? Is it ethical?" TRS MP Vivekanand said.

Expelled Congress MP from Seemandhra Rajagopal unleashed a can of pepper spray in Lok Sabha, on Thursday, during the introduction of the Telangana Bill, claiming he had done it in self defence.

Vivekanand argued Rajagopal should have complained to the Speaker if he had any threat from any member in Lok Sabha.

Noting that Rajagopal's action was "unbecoming of a Parliamentarian", the TRS MP alleged the former had sprayed pepper on Speaker and journalists.

"This is not the way a Parliamentarian should behave... He should be criminally prosecuted for attempting to murder Parliamentarians," he added.
