A group of Rajasthan BJP leaders today met CBI Director Ranjit Sinha demanding a fair probe into Gopalgarh riots in the state in 2011 when 10 persons were killed and avoid purported persecution of its MLA.
A delegation of BJP leaders from Rajasthan, including MLA Digamber Singh besides former state party President Arun Chaturvedi and other leaders, met Sinha at the CBI headquarters and handed over a memorandum to him.
The delegation demanded an unbiased and fair probe into the incident and claimed BJP leaders and Nagar MLA Anita Singh are being wrongly implicated in the riots as they were called to the scene by the local administration to calm the rising tension in the area.

The delegation also asked the CBI Director to take cognisance of local administration officials, including the DM, where they had reportedly said BJP leaders were called by them.
Ten persons of a community were killed in the communal violence resulting from a land dispute and police firing in Gopalgarh town in Bharatpur in September, 2011.
Following CBI's charge sheet, the special CBI court in Jaipur had directed it to also probe the role of influential people in the region including the MLAs.
The court has directed CBI to investigate the alleged role of MLAs Khan and Singh, along with two other leaders of a particular community, and submit a report after the counsel for both the communities pointed fingers at them during arguments.
