Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today inaugurated the phase-2 of a drinking water project in Nagaur district's Jayal village.
The first part of the Nagaur Lift Drinking Water Project's phase-2 will provide drinking water to the people of 120 villages, Raje said.
To be completed in three parts, the project's second phase aims to supply fresh drinking water in 986 villages.
"Generations have passed with the dream of having fresh drinking water supply in Jayal," Raje said.
In 1996, the BJP government had the courage to make drinking water available and today the dream has been fulfilled, she said.
The chief minister said she had seen the misery of the people in Jayal in her last tenure and undertook the Matasukh Regional Water Supply Project for providing clean drinking water.
The project would have been completed in 2010-11, if the BJP government was in power in 2008-13, she said.
