Rajasthan discom engineer held on bribery charges

An engineer of Ajmer Discom was today arrested for allegedly accepting bribe from a contractor in Sikar district, police said.

The accused Hanuman Prasad, posted as Executive Engineer in Sikar under Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd had demanded the bribe from a contractor to issue work order and release pending amount for current projects, SP Anti-Corruption Branch, Param Jyoti said.

He had already taken Rs 30,000 from the contractor and was demanding Rs 47,000 more, she said.

After verification of the complaint, a trap was laid and the accused was held while taking the bribe amount of Rs 47,000, the officer added.
