Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot today said the BJP government in the state had finally accepted that farmers had committed suicide during its rule.
His remark came after Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria earlier in the day claimed that no farmer had committed suicide in the state due to debt between 2009 and 2017, and said only three peasants killed themselves in 2015.
Over 90 farmers have committed suicide in the state due to the government's apathy and betrayal, he alleged, adding that accepting only three deaths indicates that the current dispensation is turning a blind eye on farmers' suicides.

The state Home Minister, at least, has finally accepted that farmers had committed suicide during the BJP rule, the Congress leader said.
He said the government has announced to procure garlic produce after deaths of two farmers and this indicates that it has woken up from its deep slumber after the farmers committed suicide.

Pilot alleged that the BJP has announced a loan waiver for debt-ridden farmers in the election year to mislead them for its political gains.
"It is first time in the history of the state that farmers were left with no choice than committing suicide due to government's negligence," he said.
He claimed that people of the state, who voted for a majority government, were waiting to get rid of the BJP as it had treated every section of the society as its vote bank and made false and unrealistic promises.
