DGP Rajasthan Harish Meena directed a senior police officer to carry out the investigation.
"It came to light that the community Panchayat is pressurising Santara Meena to return to her husband's home which is beyond law and violation of human rights," Additional Director General (Civil Rights), R P Singh, said here.
"On direction by the DGP, IG (Human Rights) N Moris Babu was sent to Nangal Rajawatan area in Dausa district today to investigate the matter," he said.
Babu will collect necessary facts, speak to the district police and administration officials and submit his report by the evening, he said.
Santara, 23, a resident of Manpuria village, had complained to SP Dausa S N Khinchi on Monday that she was pressurised by her community after she refused to follow the diktats of a panchayat to return to her husband Dinesh Meena's home.
The woman lecturer, who was married to Meena 14 years ago, was given this order by the panchayat on June 16.
