Rajasthan reels under heat wave, Churu sizzles at 48.3 deg C

Blistering heat wave conditions continued to affect normal life in Rajasthan as Churu sweltered at 48.3 degree Celsius.

Mercury in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer, Churu, Bikaner, Sriganganagar soared above 45 degree Celsius mark. Gangangar recorded a maximum temperature of 48 degree C followed by Bikaner 46.8, Kota 46.4, Pilani 45.6, Barmer and Jaisalmer 45.4 each, Chittorgarh 44.8, and Udaipur 42.2 degree Celsius.

Jaipur recorded a high of 46.2 degree, as a severe intensity dust storm in the afternoon further aggravated the hot summer conditions in the state capital and adjoining sub-urban town.

A MeT department forecast said that Mercury might plummet by tomorrow morning due to a squall today.
