The trademarks and geographical indications (GI) authorities have awarded the unique tag to the famous 'Thawa Art' of Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district.
According to an official statement released here today, 'Thawa Art' has been given Geographical Indication No. 244 under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999.
The artworks that fall under the class of precious metals and their alloy and goods have become famous worldwide.

The GI tag is given to a product to indicate that it has a specific geographical location or point of origin. The tag may act as a certification that the product possesses certain qualities or enjoys a certain reputation due to its geographical origin, thus enhancing its marketability.
