Rajasthan shivers as mercury dips; Churu, Mount Abu freezes

Normal life continued to be affected in parts of Rajasthan with Churu and Mount Abu being the coldest places recording temperatures below freezing point.

Churu on plains and Mount Abu on hills recorded minus 0.5 degree and minus 1.0 degree Celsius respectively last night.

Beside biting and shivering wave, civic water supply in Churu got frozen today, while icy flakes were seen in upper layer of Nakki lake in Mount Abu, the report said.

With clear sky and northerly icy winds, mercury was below ten degree Celsius at almost all places in the state yesterday.

Meanwhile, Chandna in Jaisalmer recorded a minimum temperature of 0.6, Sriganganagar 1.0, Pilani 1.8, Phalodi 3.5, Vanasthali 4.2, Jaipur 4.5, Jalore 5.2, Bundi 5.5, Jaisalmer 5.8, Sawaimadhopur 6.0, Chittorgarh and Udaipur 6.6 each, Ajmer 6.8, Barmer 7, and Kota 8.4 degree Celsius.
 

According to a MeT department forecast, eastern Rajasthan might get thunder shower with rains in next 24 hours as a western disturbance was moving from Pakistan over Rajasthan.
