Rajasthan has adopted the Centre's ambitious 'Clean India' campaign as part of which elected representatives, MLAs, MPs, councillors and village heads will lead the movement.

The Raje cabinet also decided to hold a massive function at Dhankya village, the birth place of Deendayal Upadhya, on October 2.

Rajasthan has already adopted the 'Swachh Bharat Mission' in the state from today, and it will continue till October 1 in which elected representatives (MLAs, MPs, Councillors, Sarpanch) will lead the movement, Parliamentary Minister R S Rathore told reporters.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will hold an event at the birth place of the prominent Jan Sangh leader to draw attention of public and NGOs towards keeping hygienic conditions in atmosphere and surroundings, Rathore said.

Cleanliness drive would continue in all districts, block and village level, and separate committees would be set up to monitor it, he said.

The cabinet also reconsidered the ongoing work on "open defecation-free" state, he said, adding, the government was seriously considering a legal provision in the election process of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI), and government employees to first build a latrine in their homes.

Rathore said in next three years Rajasthan will be "open defecation-free" state in the country, and in initial stage 24 lakh families have been earmarked in parts of the state.

It also made amendments in the regularisation process of Prithvi Raj Nagar housing area in the city to give benefit to small land owners wishing to built house for the last one decade, he said.

On a question of expected Raje cabinet expansion, as rumoured in the state for the last two days, Rathore said, "It is the prerogative of chief minister. There was neither any discussion on this issue, nor on resignation of ministers if cabinet expansion is/was planned".
