Rajasthan to promote mftg in defence sub-systems: Official

Rajasthan government is looking at promoting manufacturing of defence sub-systems and electronics system design, a state government official said today.

Rajasthan Industries Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Industries Department Secretary Veenu Gupta, and PWD Principal Secretary D B Gupta, were here to participate in a roadshow for the two-day 'Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit' to be held in Jaipur on November 19.

"We have been traditionally strong in minerals, textiles, tourism, gems and jewellery. Now, we are looking to promote defense sub-systems manufacturing and electronics system design and manufacturing as sunrise sectors", Veenu Gupta, also the Managing Director of Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation, said.
 

Rajasthan Industries Minister Khimsar said his government intends to explore economic synergies with Tamil Nadu.

"Tamil Nadu is a manufacturing hub for electronic hardware, consumer durables. We wish to explore the possible economic synergies between Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu", he said.

Addressing the businessmen at the roadshow, he said, "Rajasthan offers your business easy access to energy supply and raw material, a skilled talent pool and close proximity to National Capital Region".

"If you are looking at expanding your operations in India and abroad, Rajasthan is your ideal choice", he said.

Gupta said the state government would float the Request for Proposals soon for taking up road development projects.

"Government of Rajasthan has launched an ambitious programme of developing 20,000 km of State highways on PPP basis. As part of Phase-I, feasibility studies of 8,910 km have been conducted. Now, RFPs will be floated soon to finalise the concessionaries", he said.
