Rajendra Singh meets Akhilesh to save dying rivers, ponds

Water conservationist and Magsaysay award winner Rajendra Singh today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and sought his support in saving ponds and rivers.

Singh expressed grave concern over the "drying" rivers and ponds in the state, an official statement issued here said.

"Rivers and ponds are our heritage which have a direct connect with the existence of humans," he said.

Expressing concern over the condition of the Lakhari river of Jhansi and Chandraval of Mahoba, Singh sought CM's help in saving them.

Hailing the efforts of Singh in restoration and conservation of rivers, Akhilesh assured of all possible help.
 

The chief minister also directed the officials concerned for revival of Lakhari and Chandraval rivers, the statement added.
