The Gujarat BJP has chosen its MLA from Raopura constituency in Vadodara, Rajendra Trivedi, as the candidate for Assembly Speaker's post, state BJP president Jitu Vaghani announced today.
Trivedi would file his nomination papers for the February 19 election to the Speaker's post tomorrow in the presence of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Vaghani told reporters in Bhavnagar.
Since the Speaker can not have party affiliations, Trivedi will tender resignation from the BJP before filing his papers, said a party release.

As opposition Congress has indicated that it will not field any candidate for the post, Trivedi is all set to become the Speaker of the 14th Legislative Assembly of Gujarat.
While the Budget session would start on February 19, the Budget would be presented on February 20.
