MLA Rajesh Gupta was today appointed as the chief whip of the BJP legislative party ahead of the Budget session of Jammu and Kashmir starting tomorrow.
"BJP MLA from Jammu East Assembly constituency, Rajesh Gupta has been nominated as Chief Whip of the BJP Legislative party," a BJP spokesman said.
The appointment comes after outgoing Chief Whip Ajay Nanda was inducted in the cabinet as Minister of State, he said.
The nomination of Gupta was approved by BJP State President and MLA Sat Sharma in consultations with senior functionaries and legislators of the party, the spokesman added.
