Rajinikanth turns 69, greetings pour in

: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth turned 69 years old on Thursday with his fans across Tamil Nadu leading the birthday celebrations.

The fans celebrated the actor's birthday by conducting prayers, special poojas at temples and a community feast at various places across the state.

The actor, last seen in Karthik Subburaj's directorial 'Petta', is currently busy for 'Darbar' flick by 'Ghajini'-fame A R Murugadoss.

'Darbar' is expected to hit the screens soon. The audio of the flick was released recently.

The political and cinema world greeted the actor.

DMK chief M K Stalin said, "My hearty greetings to a dear friend who is celebrating his birthday today. I wish him a healthy and long life."

Following the actor's birthday, various fans and friends of him took to microblogging site to extend their greetings.

Actor-politician and long-time friend Kamal Hassan extended his greetings to Rajinikanth. "Dear friend, I wish you very good health and success to continue in your life," he said.

Director Murugadoss said "Happy Birthday Thalaivar @rajinikanth sir. I wish you success, health and happiness throughout. You are a constant source of inspiration for us. I am happy and blessed to be a small part in this wonderful journey of yours."

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, who is sharing screen space with Rajinikanth in 'Darbar', said, "Happy bday Thalaivaa. Working with you on #Darbar has been one of the biggest highs of my career and the lessons in humility, discipline and simplicity shall remain with me for life! May God bless you sir with lots of love, health & happiness".

Anirudh Ravichander, who is scoring the music for 'Darbar' said, "Happy birthday to the person I love the most in this world. Andrum Indrum Endrum Orey Superstar".

Sun Pictures promoted by media baron Kalanidhi Maran said, "Wishing the pride of Indian cinema, the one and only superstar @rajinikanth a very Happy Birthday".

Sun Pictures is producing the actor's 168th film to be directed by Shiva of Ajith-starrer 'Viswasam'.

Sun Pictures also shared a video of the actor in twitter, in which he was seen cutting a cake flanked by the film crew at an event.

Noted film production entity AVM Productions said, "Join us in wishing the ever-charming, extremely stylish and super talented #Superstar Rajinikanth a very happy 69th birthday today."

The political circle in the state is abuzz with speculation of the actor entering the poll fray, especially after his statement in 2017 asking his fans to "prepare for war". It was seen as his hint of a political entry.

The actor has already floated 'Rajini Makkal Mandram' which is believed to be platform for making his entry into the field of politics.

Members of the mandram conducted various special programmes and special poojas seeking the blessings of the Lord for their leader and conducted various events marking the occasion.

Some members distributed school uniforms and wheelchairs to a school in the city.

Recently, Rajinikanth was honoured with the Icon of Golden Jubilee Award at the International Film Festival of India this year.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan presented the award to Rajinikanth in the presence of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during the 50th edition of the film festival.
