Twenty-two eminent personalities were today bestowed with Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award for their contribution in the fields of social service, education and creative arts.
Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi conferred the award at a ceremony organised on the occasion of 22nd death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the presence of senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed.
Vishakha Tripathi, president of Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat (JKP) education, whose work in the field of girl education got special mention from the jury, was among those awarded, a statement from the foundation said.

The award, now in the 15th year since its inception, recognises contribution in the field of creative arts, journalism, business, education, public and social service.
Among others Saurabh Garg was awarded for creating awareness about Thalassemia and social work, the statement said.
Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award Foundation commemorates the martyrdom of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi each year by recognising significant work that has contributed to national development.
