BJP worker Narendra Solanki, who became a priest in April last year, has resigned as the corporator from ward number 19 of the city as he is being accused of being involved in a case of attack.

Jagdish Rathod, husband of the BJP corporator from ward number 22 Damyanti Rathod, was attacked by three persons a few days ago.

Damyanti, in a petition to the police commissioner Mohan Jha, has accused that Solanki was behind it.

The three attackers surrendered before the police next day and allegedly confessed that Solanki had asked them to break Jagdish's bones as the latter's comments on facebook were hurting Solanki's reputation as the mahant.

"We are investigating. If we find that Solanki was involved, then action would be taken," said inspector J D Gadhvi of Bhaktinagar police station.

Solanki submitted his resignation as corporator to the Rajkot municipal commissioner Vijay Nehra yesterday.

"We have informed the election commission and sent it a copy of resignation," said Nitin Bhardwaj, chairman of the standing committee.

Last April Solani announced that he was renouncing the world to become a mahant of Aapa Giga No Otlo, where pilgirms coming to Chotila are given free food and accommodation.
