Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's scheduled visit to Mandsaur on June 6, the first anniversary of death of six farmers in police firing, was politically motivated.
"The Congress president does such things during elections," Singh said to a question by a reporter here.
Farmers' organisations have announced a 10-day nationwide agitation from tomorrow for demands including remunerative prices for farm produce. It is expected to impact Mandsaur, which was the epicentre of last year's agitation.
"Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said yesterday that the agitation is of Congress, and not of farmers. He spoke the truth," Singh said.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi's rally in Mandsaur on June 6, Singh said, "He does such things during elections.
"He has forgotten...farmers' agitation in Bhatta Parsaul in Uttar Pradesh. Now he is talking about Mandsaur," the BJP leader said.
"The Congress ruled for 60 years. Why it did not improve farmers' conditions then? What good it has done for farmers?" Singh asked.
