Rajnath to flag off Lucknow AC double-decker

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh would flag off the much-awaited AC double-decker train for Lucknow from here tomorrow.

There has been a demand for an AC double-decker train between the national capital and Lucknow.

Railways has already got the clearance last month from Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS) to operationalise the service.

According to railways, it will be a regular bi-weekly service (Friday and Sunday) between Anand Vihar and Lucknow from May 1.

The AC double-decker train will depart from Anand Vihar station at 2.10 PM to reach Lucknow at 10.50 PM the same day. In the return direction, the bi-weekly train will depart from Lucknow at 5 AM to reach Anand Vihar at 1 PM the same day.
 

The train will have 12 coaches having 110 seats in each. It will run approximately at a maximum speed of 110 kph and the fare is likely to be around Rs 630 for travelling between Lucknow and New Delhi.

Railways is currently running AC double-deckers on a few routes including Howrah-Dhanbad, Mumbai-Ahemedabad, Delhi-Jaipur and Bangalore-Chennai among others.
