Rajnath Singh to inaugurate 2-day 'Regional Editors Conference'

The Conference is being organized by PIB for media persons to have a direct interaction with ministers and senior officials

Union Ministers from some key ministries, including Home Affairs, would interact with regional editors from north and northeastern states during a two-day 'Regional Editors Conference' beginning here on Monday.

The Conference is being organized by Press Information Bureau for media persons from the regions to have a direct interaction with ministers and senior officials "for getting a deeper perspective of Union government's recent initiatives and roadmap planned in some of the key sectors," an official release issued here said.

The Conference would be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator VP Singh Badnore.

Over the two days, it will see interactive sessions with the Home Minister, Union Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (Independent Charge) and Prime Minister's Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space Jitendra Singh.
 

Besides, interactive sessions with Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, will also be held in the Conference.

Senior officials of the respective ministries would also be present during these sessions.

An 'exclusive session' on media communication has also been scheduled to have feedback from the participants for better understanding of their communication needs.

Editors and senior mediapersons from 10 states- Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Tripura and Mizoram, and one Union Territory Chandigarh will participate in the Conference.

An exhibition showcasing the government's initiatives in the recent past is also being held on the occasion.

This is the third 'Regional Editors Conference' being organised by PIB during this year. The earlier Conferences were held in Jaipur and Chennai.
