Former Chief Minister Beant Singh's assassin Balwant Singh Rajoana, a death row convict, who is under treatment at a government hospital here since past two days, is down with dengue.

Yesterday, Rajoana's cell count was 79,000 that dropped to 52,000 by the night following which he was transfused platelets today, the Government Rajindra Hospital sources said.

They confirmed that his Mac Elisa test was positive. He was stable now and is currently admitted in the dengue ward of the hospital.

Rajona was brought to Rajindra Hospital's Cardiac Care Unit on Wednesday night after he was continuously vomiting and complained of abdomen pain, they said.

However, after ruling out any cardiac problem, he was shifted to the prisoner's ward. He had slight fever for the past three days.
