A number of women members of a Rajput organisation today protested in Rajasthan's Kota with swords in their hands, demanding a ban on period drama Padmavati.
They assembled under the aegis of the Shri Rastriya Rajput Karni Sena and agitated against director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actress Deepika Padukone, who plays the role of Queen Padmini in the controversial film.
The women demanded that the state and central governments ban the movie, alleging it "misrepresents Rajput culture and tradition with distorted historical facts" and burnt its posters.

Sena's state general secretary Nena Chapol said the organisation would soon initiate a mass signature campaign in the city and send it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inform him about the people's sentiments regarding the movie.
The women threatened that if their demands were not met, the protests against the film would be intensified.
