The Minister told reporters that the budget for the cantonment will also be increased at the tourist town of Pachmarhi after declaring open `Shahid Dwar' memorial -- built at the cost of Rs 25 lakh -- at the training college for the Army Education Corps.

Raju said that the Army Education Corps was important for the country as it provided high-level training to jawans.

He said that there were encroachments on around 11,000 to 12,000 acres of army land across the country, and attempts were on to clear them.

The records with the army were being rectified and computerised, he said.
