In an apparent move to ensure its smooth functioning, the Rajya Sabha will have its Question Hour at 12 noon from the next session of parliament while the Zero Hour has been slotted for 11 AM as soon as the Housle assembles for the day.

A decision to this effect was taken by the General Purposes Committee of the Rajya Sabha headed by Chairman Hamid Ansari in an apparent move for smooth and effective conduct of the Upper House, sources said here.

The Committee also decided that henceforth the House, which usually sits from 11 AM to 5 PM, will now sit upto 6 PM, they said.

A few years ago, the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha was shifted for a few days to 2-3 PM when the Upper House witnessed frequent adjournments over various issues and the Question Hour had become a casualty.
