Ram Temple will not be an election issue in UP: BJP

Press Trust of India Ballia (UP)
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday asserted that the Ram temple will not be an issue in the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and the polls will be contested on the plank of development.

"Ram temple is the centre of our belief and we all want that Ram temple is constructed... But it will not be the issue for BJP in the coming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh slated next year," BJP national vice-president and incharge of party affairs in the state Om Mathur told reporters here.

He also asserted that his party will not make common civil code and slogan of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' as election issues.

"BJP will contest the election on the issue of development, failures of the Samajwadi Party government and law and order," he said.

The BJP leader exuded confidence that BJP, along with other National Democratic Alliance partners, will contest the elections with its full strength and form the next government in the state.

Mathur is here to overlook the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on Sunday to launch 'Ujjawala' scheme.
