Ratnakar Bank ropes in Rama Bijapurkar as independent director

Private lender RBL Bank, earlier known as Ratnakar Bank, has roped in marketing specialist Rama Bijapurkar as an independent director.

Bijapurkar is an expert on market strategy and consumer economy and runs her own consulting practice and works across a range of sectors and organisations.

Apart from her consulting practice, Bijapurkar focusses on corporate governance. She has been on the boards of many blue-chips like Infosys, Bharat Petroleum, Axis Bank, Godrej Consumer Products, Crisil, ICICI Prudential Life, and Titan Industries, among others, the bank said in a statement today.

Bijapurkar is a member of the governing council of the Banking Codes and Standards Board of India, the Insurance Information Bureau of India, and is a member of the Eminent Person Advisory Group of the Competition Commission.
 

She also serves on the board of governors of IIM-Ahmedabad, her alma mater, where she is also a regular visiting faculty.
