Rama Krishna wins from Guntur-Krishna teachers' constituency

Guntur District Collector and Election Officer Kantial Dande declared A S Rama Krishna elected from the Guntur-Krishna teachers' constituency to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council today, after formal approval from the Election Commission of India.

Out of a total 18,931 votes, Rama Krishna recieved 7,146 votes, while his nearest rival and sitting MLC K S Lakshmana Rao received 5,383 votes.

The election was held on March 22 and counting was held at Guntur on Wednesday.

Rama Krishna is supported by the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and some teachers' trade organisations, whereas Lakshman Rao is supported by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) as well as the Congress.
