In a noble move, monks of the Ramakrishna Mission have started providing primary relief services in most of the flood-affected districts of West Bengal.
Swami Suvirananda, assistant secretary of the Mission, said primary relief work was being conducted in parts of Murshidabad, Burdwan, Howrah and Hooghly districts.
The monks are serving cooked food, distributing dry food materials, drinking water, bleaching powder, tarpaulins and medicines to flood-affected people.
A survey of flood-affected places in other areas of these districts as well as in North and South 24-Parganas districts was also being conducted, he said.
