Ramanathaswamy temple to have wireless CCTV cameras

With monkeys pulling off wires linking the Closed Circuit TV Cameras at the Ramanathaswamy shrine here, the temple administration has decided to opt for wireless CCTV cameras in view of the security threats being faced by it.

Joint Commissioner S.Selvaraj and the Temple Engineer Mayil Vahanan said more than 20 monkeys in the temple vicinity were pulling off the wires and snapping them making monitoring of the cameras very difficult.

Donors had agreed to bear the cost of Rs 18 lakh for installing the wireless CCTV cameras,they said.

Besides,the temple planned to have intercom phone system at fifteen places to enable pilgrims make phone calls as mobile phones had been banned inside the temple and jammer installed.
