Ramco Cements today reported over two-fold increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 206.3 crore for the quarter ended March, helped by lower depreciation costs.

Its consolidated net profit in the January-March quarter of 2014-15 stood at Rs 94.36 crore.

Total income from operations increased 1.79% to Rs 1,015.39 crore, from Rs 997.52 crore in the year-ago period, Ramco Cements said in a regulatory filing.

Depreciation cost during January-March declined to Rs 185.7 crore, from Rs 197.6 crore in the year-ago period. For the whole of 2015-16, consolidated net profit grew to Rs 558.5 crore, as against Rs 246.1 crore in 2014-15. Total income from operations stood at Rs 3,685.7 crore for 2015-16 compared with Rs 3,732.2 crore for the year-ago period.
 

The stock of Ramco Cements shares was trading 1.62% higher at Rs 498.45 on BSE.
